The 8th
Airdrie (Chapelhall) Group Scout Leader Award will be over and above the Beaver
Scout and Cub Scout Achievement Awards. These will be awarded at the discretion
of the Beaver Scout and Cub Scout leaders.
Nominations for
the Group Scout Leader Award can be made by a Section Leaders on behalf of a
Beaver, Cub, Scout, or a Young Leader working within the Group, who has
contributed most to their Section and who has provided a good example to others. Assistant
Leaders can nominate a young person and have that nomination endorsed by the
Section Leader.
The Award will
be in the form of a shield which the young person can keep for two months after
the Award is made. The young person will also receive a miniature shield that
they can keep. Each shield will be engraved with the name of the young person
and the year that the Award was made. In addition the young person will receive
a voucher for goods at the Glasgow Scout Shop.
All Awards will
be presented at the Group’s Annual General Meeting in September.
Examples of why
young people can be nominated for the Award include:

Always helping
younger members of their Colony, Pack, or Troop
·
Being full of
ideas and suggestions for their Section
·
Making
excellent progress in Scouting and their badge work
·
Displaying
leadership as a Young Leader with a younger Section
·
Overcoming
personal challenges
·
Enthusiasm and
good attendance at scouting events
·
Ongoing
commitment and contribution to scouting as a Beaver, Cub, Scout, Young Leader
Leaders making
nominations should always provide a brief account of how the nominee has met the
criteria. Nominations
should be made on the form and submitted to the GSL no later than
